What do we think about when we think about wilderness?
-Animals?
If you think this way let me put forward most bizarre words of Einstein,
“Mankind invented the atomic bomb, but no mouse would ever construct a mousetrap.”
As long as we are heading towards the era of development we are indulging in the depths of brutality. Be it the life of a black person or a middle-class citizen; our selfishness is more than enough to kill our ethical instincts.
"To know what is right and what is wrong is knowledge, but acting against what is wrong is courage."
The brutal incident that happened to George Floyd somehow took an immense rate of change among people with #blacklivesmatter protest across America.
But was India making any changes?
If it did, then why did P. Jayaraj and Fenix have to lose their lives just because they didn't shut their shop on time?
When we meticulously observe such scenarios we come to realize that some of us are privileged enough and are not being affected by such incidents of ruthlessness. The best way to end the chain of such harshness and injustice is to raise our voice against it.
Because, being privileged doesn't mean one should be ignorant regarding injustice but be able to stand with the lives of those who suffer.
John Stuart Mill wrote "the only freedom which deserves the name is that of pursuing our own good in our own way, so long as we do not attempt to deprive others of theirs or impede their efforts to obtain it."This rhetoric of rights lies behind the modern-day discussions on human rights.
Humans are born equal but still, society has made us to believe that one life is less important than another. But the mere definition of human rights makes them inalienable and universal. From the humanitarian crisis in Yemen to the exodus of migrant workers in India, the flout of human rights is on an all-time high. The need to spread human rights jurisprudence across the world and stand against human rights violation is stronger now than ever before.
